Sacred Heart Girls' Higher Secondary School , has carved for itself a special niche among the crowded galaxy of educational institutions in Thanjavur. We, the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, provide an excellent platform for quality education, unfold the innate potentials of the students and mould them into responsible citizens.With a highly commendable history of achievement in academics, co curricular and extra curricular activities and sports and games, our school continues to move forward with confidence, pride and enthusiasm. The Institute of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, the first International Religious Congregation for Women was founded in 1877 by Mary of the Passion (Helen-de-Chappotin) at Ootacamund,Tamil Nadu.We discover Christ`s message of love through our life of prayer and service and transmit this to our brothers and sisters by our varied activities.Being Missionaries like St.Francis of Assisi, our preference is to work for the poor and the marginalized to create a more just and humane society.
FOUNDATION
Sacred Heart Girls' Higher Secondary School, recognized under the Madras Educational Rules, is a minority institution in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Thanjavur. It was founded in the year 1937 with the primary objective of serving the poor and the needy and socially backward children irrespective of caste creed and religion.
OBJECTIVES
The following are the broad objectives of our institution:
- a sound philosophy of life based on faith in God
- an academic competence that builds responsible women
- a genuine respect for human beings
- formation of values like truth, love, justice, freedom and peace
- an awareness of the society and it's problems in the national and international spheres.
VISION
Integrated growth of children by helping them to become intellectually competent, spiritually enlightened, morally upright, psychologically mature, physically healthy and socially acceptable.
MISSION
- Imparting quality education to children irrespective of caste, creed and religion
- Instilling social values like justice, truth, love, peace, dignity, religious harmony and national integration
- Training young minds to be agents of social change by fostering Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC)
- Sensitizing the students with vital environmental issues and helping them to play a useful role in protecting the environment.
- Helping youth to grow with a good sense of duty and responsibility in an atmosphere of joyous freedom, conducive to personally development and fulfilment through self control and self direction leading to spontaneous involvement of all the pupils in the organization.
